Principles of Design Behavior: A 360° View of Knowledge

May 2, 2017 KA Connect

Erika Eklund + Julie Weston
HGA

Talk Description
When design defines us, it is critical to be able to articulate the principles and behaviors that we believe are essential to design excellence - --   both to engage clients and to transfer the knowledge to others in our firm. Using a smart questioning methodology, we interviewed four senior design architects and the people who work with them most to begin to uncover the DNA of HGA's design experience.

Speaker Bios
Erika Eklund has over 20 years of experience working with creative organizations to build audience, revenue, reputation, and culture. In her current role as Director of Communications at HGA, Erika works with her team and others across the firm to thoughtfully express HGA's brand through the firm's internal and external communication channels. Erika previously worked in business development and communications in HGA's arts practice, as well as spent 15 years working in external relations in the nonprofit arts community. She holds a BA in Theater and Communications from Gustavus Adolphus College and holds a teaching degree in Theater and Speech from the University of St. Thomas.

Julie Weston is a Research Librarian at HGA, a full-service firm with eight locations across the United States. Based in Minneapolis, she has been responsible for firm-wide business, marketing, and design research for over 16 years. Julie is a founding member of the Research Council at HGA, a member of the Big Data Task Force, an intranet core team member, and a tireless proponent of Knowledge Management. Julie holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Library and Information Science from Dominican University.

Christopher Parsons of Knowledge Architecture interviews Julie Weston (HGA), Erika Eklund (HGA) and Dorothy Leonard (Leonard-Barton Group) at KA Connect 2017.
